Very rare album of photographs of the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, published by the famous photographers "Ferrari brothers". The album has 24 original photographs measuring approximately 16*21 cm, mounted on card measuring 25*32 cm, depicting various streets, monuments, etc. The case shows signs of handling and one of the flaps has a slight tear. The photographs are in good condition and only have acidity peaks on the edges of the card.

Work with graphic direction of the painter Manuel Lapa and execution by Oficina Gráfica, Lda., Neogravura, Lda. And National Lithography. With a preface by Eduardo Brazão of SNI, speeches given at the inauguration ceremony, on June 23, 1940, by Duarte Pacheco, Minister of Public Works and Communications and by Augusto de Castro, General Commissioner of the Exhibition.
The edition is dedicated to the children of those who have seen the Exhibition and the memories of the Engineer Duarte Pacheco and the Architect Cottinelli Telmo.
Album evocative of the Exhibition of the Portuguese World, of great artistic quality, printed on various types of paper, couché, vegetable, cardboard. Separators of each section with text to two columns.
Color engravings on paper couché, pasted on sheets of text, reproducing illuminations of the Apocalypse of Lorvão, details of the Atlas of Lopo Man, portraits of Viceroys of India, details of panels of S. Vicente, Tapestries of D. João de Castro, from the Book of Hours of D. Manuel, Popular Images of Our Lady and typical vessels from various regions.
Black and white prints documenting exhaustively all the spaces of the Exhibition, the artistic pieces that integrated them and the respective decoration. The folding sheets reproduce the sepia a work of painting inspired by the panels of S. Vicente by Martins Barata and a color plant of the entire exhibition grounds.
A work of high artistic value, intended to revive in 1956 the high moment of the consolidation of Estado Novo in 1940 and to contribute to the celebrations of the 30 years of the so-called Revolution of May 28, 1926. It was the date that marks the zenith of the regime of Salazar, perfectly consolidated, without opposition and without external enemies, situation that would change in a short time.
Exemplary with the usual signs of handling in the editorial overcoat (`small tears near the spine), kernels and binding in good condition. Good example.
